With the frosts of dawn nipping at our heels, see what’s caught the collective eye of Team ICON lately with these winter warmers.
It’s in these dismal winter months that British people find themselves wishing they were elsewhere. So why not draw warmth from the colour and rhythm of the Mediterranean? Inspired by the traditions of the region, the new visual identity for Barcelona-based footwear brand Arrels was recently unveiled.
Completed by Hey Studio and spanning print, packaging and online, the look combines natural torn edges with bright and untempered character to suggest a tension between the handmade and mass produced. Brilliantly balancing Arrels’ rural roots with the urbanite lifestyle, the brand captures the essence of the countryside, the sun and the sea, and the urban sprawl of Barcelona.
Footwear alone won’t keep anyone warm. Thankfully, cutting-edge knitwear company Unmade is leading a clothing revolution. Using computer science, social media and 3D technology, Unmade plans to change the way we buy clothes. By partnering with designers and encouraging customers to make unique garments through digital manipulation, Unmade will only ever produce clothes people want.
Hot off the press and fresh from an excellent launch night at ustwo, the latest issue of ShellsuitZombie magazine examines the uncertainty at the heart of all creative endeavours and the suck-it-and-see attitude that sees creatives launch their careers. With its bold black cover featuring scanned type, interviews with design heavyweights like Kate Moross, and reams of original illustration, SSZ6 is a cosy read. Find a copy and put the kettle on.
