TRANSFER PRINTING
Transfer Printing is fantastic for low quantity orders or one-off t-shirts. It produces bright and vibrant colours but isn’t as durable as screen printing or direct to garment printing. It is also used for individual names and numbers, for one-off events and for printing onto high visibility workwear, nylon waterproofs and Lycra sportswear like cycle shorts.
Transfer Printing can also be used to produce metallic effect printing or flock effect velvet is another alternative. There are no set-up costs and it’s the cheapest printing technique available for low quantity orders.

Transfer Printing Process
Transfer printing is a technique where a paper transfer with your design is heat pressed directly onto the garments . The quality of the print is directly related to the quality of the artwork supplied so it’s important that the artwork is in a high resolution format – low res images taken from the web are not usually suitable.
The transfer sits on top of the garment and the ink is not absorbed at all meaning that the colours are bright and vibrant. However, because of this Transfer Printing isn’t as durable as screen printing or direct to garment printing. But it is a very cost effective way of producing full colour printed clothing very quickly.
CAD Cut Vinyl Printing Process
CAD Cut Vinyl Printing is when a sheet of vinyl is cut to shape using a special plotter. It’s normally used for printing individual names and numbers which are used for sportsteams, charity runs, stag and hen do’s - that kind of thing. The artwork is required in a vectorised format with fonts created to outlines and it is then sent to a vinyl cutter which is similar to a printer but uses a blade as opposed to ink.
Once the design or text has been cut it’s then weeded out (removed) manually. Once the excess vinyl s removed you’re left with your design which is then heat pressed onto the garment for 10-15 seconds.
The quality of the finished result is largely dependent on the quality of the original image supplied which is why we recommend you always supply us with either print ready vector artwork (EPS / Ai) or high resolution JPEG files at least 300dpi and 100% of intended print size.
Please note: With transfer printing and CAD cut vinyl printing, it's not always possible to match colours in your artwork exactly therefore we can't guarantee an exact match and are unable to offer a refund if the printed garment colours don't match the artwork.
Printing Pro's & Con's
The table below quickly highlights the pro’s and con’s of each printing technique we offer. We favour screen printing as it produces the best quality results but direct to garment printing is great for vibrant full colour prints & transfer printing for low quantity orders, where budget is important.
